A smattering of things going on in the Bay for the rest of September and a couple of sneaky October ones too.

Now until Wednesday 2 October: NZ International Film Festival at Rialto Cinemas. On Sunday I’m keen for the doco ‘Gardening with Soul’ by Jess Feast. I’m recommending everyone go see The Weight of Elephants. And if I could stomach it I reckon my husband who loves Bear Grylls, Cesar Millan and the mighty All Blacks would love ‘The Summit’ showing Sunday as well. The most movies I’ve done is 3 in the row. 2 this season. How about you?

Now each Saturday night until the end of Summer: Kiwi Night Markets. 5pm-11pm Every Saturday night. Elizabeth Street Car Park – it’s undercover so you can go even if it rains.

DSC_5925Saturday 21 September: The Little Vintage Markets. 9am – 2pm. Senior Citizens Club, 345 Maunganui Rd, Mt Maunganui.

Saturday 21 September: Kinfolk Event ‘Preserving the Season‘. $70. 4pm – 8pm Mt Maunganui. Go here to read more about who and where are Kinfolk…

Saturday 28 September: Cheery (I mean Cherry) Bosom (I mean Blossom). Start again Cherry Blossom Festival in Greerton. Take your sake? Go enjoy the pinks, the anticipation of summer days, the music and our people.

Wednesday 2 October: Ninja Knits – A chance to learn how to knit and crochet with others. 7pm at The Red Barn, (The Incubator), Historic Village. Koha.
DSC_5982Saturday 12 October: Edible Weeds workshop through Second Saturdays. Learn: how to identify edible weeds, make green smoothies, and about the benefits of ‘weeds’ for you and your garden. Held at Otumoetai Community Garden 1pm-3pm. Afternoon tea afterwards.

24 October – 3 November. Tauranga Arts Festival. Perfect date night. I’m thinking something music, something Constantinople, and something bus.

Friday 18 October: ‘I’ve told you a thousand times.’ A workshop for parents and educarers with Pennie Brownlee. $145 if paid before 22 September. Includes a catered slow-food-movement lunch. Contact Emily at wild & grace. Phone: 021 662 852 or Email:

Saturday 19 October: ‘Tell me a Story’. A workshop for parents and educarers with Pennie Brownlee. $145 if paid before 22 September. Includes a catered slow-food-movement lunch. Contact Emily at wild & grace. Phone: 021 662 852 or Email:
