Kat a fellow Mum came for a playdate on Wednesday with some raw goodies.
Thursday 9am I bought my first raw cacao powder and cacao nibs from The Gluten Free Shop on Cameron Rd, Tauranga, Aotearoa.

Here is the recipe (she knew off by heart, smartypants, good sort):

Cacao Balls
1 cup dates
1/2 cup almonds and/or cashews
5 tbsp water
1/3 cup cacao
2-3 tbsp desiccated coconut or oats
optional: vanilla or mint extract or cacao nibs

Remove babies or hold them cos your baking tool is about to make a horrendous racket which none of my 3 have ever appreciated. The cuddles whilst using seemed to make the world of difference to their emotional state, not sure about their audio though.

Using your food processor blitz nuts and dates first, add water as you go. process until medium grind (not totally smooth, not totally chunky). you’ll have to stop and start a bit and get your spatula out and scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add the rest and blitz.
Now roll into balls.
I rolled in some leftover coconut but Kat had hers nude. I think they look classier without ‘clothes’.
Refrigerate or freeze if you’re in a hurry for 30 mins fridge, 10 mins freezer.

Then last night I went to the BEST rural (Papamoa Hills) birthday for a two year old, in the universe.
We fed baby lambs (ice-cream and lambie).
Sugar foot gave pony rides on her children chalked back.
Koru-ed tree stumps made for a climber’s challenge.
And the kai table!
In the glossy red shallow bowl on the kai table was where I found Maryanne’s Choc-Orange Bliss Balls.

I am armed with bliss ball (truffles in the words of Eleanor) recipes galore, to push into the freezer before a playdate to host or visit.
